Friends of North Point
WHO WE ARE
The Friends of the North Point (FONP) was formed in June of 2017. A group of local citizens contacted LNRP to discuss loss of habitat by homeowners, and invasive plants and shrubs on the unique and vital area of North Point Bluff. They have formally adopted North Point Park as part of the City of Sheboygan’s Adopt a Park Program.
WHAT WE DO
FONP works to create a safe and healthy bluff habitat. They have installed signage in the area, and parking barriers to keep cars off the grass, benches to enjoy the view of Lake Michigan, removed invasive plants and shrubs, and provided educational outreach. All are efforts to bring awareness to the community of the ecological and economic value of the bluff. FONP also conducts a spring and fall beach clean-up every year and educational outreach programs.
WHERE WE WORK
North Point Bluff is located on the northeast side of Sheboygan on Broughton Drive. FONP will use an integrated, watershed-based planning and decision-making process to accomplish the following goals:
To improve the area for both public and wildlife
Create a native plant community
